RAID data recovery is the process of recovering and restoring data from a RAID storage architecture or infrastructure. It uses a combination of automated and manual data recovery processes to extract and restore data from one or more RAID drives and storage components. RAID data recovery can be implemented on both hardware- and software-based RAID.

RAID 0 data recovery uses disk striping but no mirroring. Therefore, while it offers peak performance, it does not allow for recovery which means you can lose all your data in one event. In a RAID 0 system data are split up into blocks that get written across all the drives in the array. By using multiple disks (at least 2) at the same time, this offers superior I/O performance. This performance can be enhanced further by using multiple controllers, ideally one controller per disk.
RAID 1 data recovery is basic disk mirroring where you have copies of all your data in one big bucket. This has a recovery but slows down your applications. Data are stored twice by writing them to both the data drive (or set of data drives) and a mirror drive (or set of drives). If a drive fails, the controller uses either the data drive or the mirror drive for data recovery and continuous operation. You need at least 2 drives for a RAID 1 array.
RAID 10 data recovery (RAID 1 + RAID 0) is a combination of RAID 1 and RAID 0. RAID 10 stripes the information and then makes a copy of the stripes. A RAID 10 configuration first divides the information across the disks, and then it copies the stripes. RAID 01 (RAID 0 + RAID 1) makes a full copy of the disk and then stripes it. Since the striping occurs after the mirroring, all of the information is on both the disks rather than split up between the disks.
RAID 6 is like RAID 5, but the parity data are written to two drives. That means it requires at least 4 drives and can withstand 2 drives dying simultaneously. The chances that two drives break down at exactly the same moment are of course very small.
